Ray briefs his cousins on the tour to Kilfenora and Fanta. His sister Angela is at the left. You have to click on this picture to enlarge it to see John and Fran O'Toole heading down the road to the old cathedral in Kilfenora. Fran O'Toole stands inside the sanctuary of the old cathedral, with one of the famous "long-face" statues behind her.

The group admires one of the famous "tall crosses found only in this part of Ireland. Uncle John O'Toole is in the foreground. Tony Mozzer (center) steps carefully over the many graves in this very crowded cemetery. The cathedral is undergoing extensive renovation, and parts accessible in 2002 are now cordoned off.

Another view of the "long-face" statue in the sanctuary of the cathedral ruins. Being pointed out is the grave (covered by a recessed slab) of the Powers ancestors. Burial customs in Ireland allow many different occupants at different times of one gravesite, as opposed to the "one to a customer" tradition followed in the States.
