Wells HIgh School Warriors
Wells, Maine

HEAD Coach Tim Roche

Friday, October 17, 2003: Wells  vs Fryeburg Academy

The Star Spangled Banner was beautifully sung by Wells HS senior Johanna Tomaszewski, daughter of family friends Chris and John Tomaszewski.

The game was the 7th game of the 2003-2004 season. At this point, the Warriors were 7-0, and Fryeburg had yet to win a game.

Tim has been associated with the Wells High School football team since his days at Wells as a student  player. He served as an assistant coach for 10 years before being appointed head coach in 1999.

Helping to carry on what may develop into a family tradition is Tim's and Cindy's son Sean, who serves as a team assistant and water boy.

This picture of the Wells cheerleaders highlights the striking natural beauty of the stadium's setting, carved out of a dense woods immediately east of the school building.

The Wells Warriors Marching Band worked as a pep band during the game. Their very fine performance during halftime featured selections from The Who's Tommy. It was a real crowd-pleaser, keeping just about all of the fans in their seats until the halftime show was over.

Tim appears to be pretty laid-back, strolling through the stretching players (and officials) in shorts on a windy, 44-degree night. What was undoubtedly on his mind was how to keep from running up the score on a Fryeburg team which played well but which was obviously no match for his.

Sean (number 88) and his  associate keep a  sharp eye on the game's developments.

Listening to parent comments at the game and watching Tim's interactions with his players, it's pretty obvious that he enjoys strong support from the players, their parents and the community. You don't have to spend much time around Tim before figuring out that he loves and works very hard for the guys on the team.
